Guanacaste is a province in Costa Rica located northwest of the country, bordering Nicaragua to the north, Alajuea Province to the east and Puntarenas Province to the southeast, with a large Pacific coastline to the west. Although Guanacaste is the most sparsely populated province in Costa Rica, it attracts most of the tourists that arrive in the country.
