Guanacaste is a province located in the northwestern region of Costa Rica, along the coast of the Pacific Ocean. It borders Nicaragua to the north, Alajuela Province to the east and Puntaneras Province to the southeast. Home to the Liberia International Airport and Tamarindo, the main Costa Rica tourist hub, altough Guanacaste is the most sparcely populated province in the country it is also the most visited one, with 22% of the country’s visitors going through Tamarindo.
