Visit a small farm to see the coffee trees up close as a coffee expert gives you all the history and features of a coffee plantation. Watch an old-fashioned sugar cane mill in operation while savoring delicious sweet sugar cane juice and learn how it used to be processed. Walk inside a coffee factory to sample an authentic local coffee while discovering all the secrets and details about the roasting process of this remarkable drink. Here, you will have the opportunity to buy freshly roasted coffee.
After the coffee tour, we continue to Liberia for a cultural tour of the city. We begin our exploration at a local market where you can learn about tropical fruits, vegetables, meats or dairy products while interacting with farmers or locals who buy the city’s freshest produce.
We will pass through some neighborhoods of Liberia and the main square along with the oldest church, hospital, schools and universities. You’ll see old houses and drive through historic streets as you learn about culture, history and life in Costa Rica.
Although, no one certainly visits Costa Rica for the cuisine, we want to challenge your desire for good meals by stopping at one of the best traditional restaurants in town to try Costa Rican staples of beef or chicken casado (traditional dish) with rice, corn tortillas, beans and fresh vegetables as supplements or our outstanding Mahi-Mahi fish or BBQ pork ribs.
On the way back to the resort, visit an art gallery and souvenir shop to admire what the local artists splendidly design or paint as; beautiful jewels, hammocks, native ceramics and carved wood works that are treasured around the world for their unique styles and designs.
Great opportunity for shopping Costa Rican handicrafts!!
Additional Notes: Part of the revenue of this tour is donated to primary schools for conservation and environmental education.
