What we do
In 3 Monkeys Tours, we have designed adventure and nature excursions to satisfy everyone’s desire; from easy wildlife excursions in pristine jungles to see crocodiles, frogs, monkeys, sloths, toucans to thrilling whitewater rafting near stunning active volcanoes.
Our trips may include bird watching, wildlife expeditions, surfing, waterfalls, volcanoes, zip line, hot springs, national parks, rafting, rainforest, rappel, river kayaking, canyoning, culture, ceramics, beaches, diving, sailing, fishing, snorkeling, helicopters, agriculture. We cover everything!
In addition, we are specialized in reliable and responsible transportation from airports and hotels to any destination in Costa Rica. We also organize personalized transportation and logistics for family trips, corporate events or weddings.
Our story
3 Monkeys Tours was founded by Rigoberto Hernández, Minor Cascante and Alejandro Vargas in 2003.
In the early 1990s Minor and Rigoberto graduated from college. Alejandro was already working on the Banana Train Tour east of the city of San Jose.
By the late 1990s, the three were already involved in the tourism industry guiding trips to rainforests, surf beaches, wildlife sanctuaries, national parks and active volcanoes where they experienced hiking, bird watching, wildlife, jungle expeditions, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, kayaking, culture, adventure and zip line.
At this point, their love for Costa Rica was increasing, however, pride and passion for this small piece of heaven was always on their minds for many years before. So, with all this background and experience they learned that things could be done much better and that’s when they decided to launch 3 Monkeys Tours.
In that first year, they only had one employee and only offered one-day tours, but over the next few years, the operation was more decisive, handling not only one-day tours, but also multi-day packages and even tours to Nicaragua. In recent years, the company has also expanded to other areas of travel business, as we specialize more in managing private groups, incentive programs and even wedding events.
Since 2006, 3 Monkeys was accredited with the Sustainability Tourism Certification (CST) by the government of Costa Rica. This accreditation is an acknowledgement to an excellent management of the company that actively works to moderate the effects resulting from the daily operation. This certification improves the strengthening of social, cultural, environmental, economic and development work in the destinations visited.
